Eureka, California – Interior Northern California is baking under intense summer heat this week, with temperatures in Willow Creek peaking at 101°F Wednesday and remaining in the mid-90s through Sunday. While coastal cities like Eureka and Fort Bragg stay comfortably cool, the inland swelter is raising heat safety concerns for travelers and residents alike.

According to the National Weather Service in Eureka, highs in communities such as Hayfork, Hoopa, and Weaverville will remain in the upper 90s through at least Friday. Trinity Center, Covelo, and Garberville will also see persistent highs in the mid-90s before a slight cooling trend begins over the weekend.

Drivers along Highways 299 and 36 should prepare for hot pavement and possible vehicle strain during afternoon hours. Residents in areas like Ukiah, Lakeport, and Clearlake are urged to hydrate, avoid strenuous outdoor activity during peak sun hours, and check on elderly neighbors or pets.

Cooler marine air keeps cities like Crescent City, Eureka, and Fort Bragg in the upper 50s to low 60s all week, offering coastal residents a sharp contrast from the inland furnace.

Temperatures are expected to ease slightly into the high 80s and low 90s by Sunday across most interior zones. Another update is expected Friday morning as conditions evolve.
