Sacramento, Calif. – Sacramento is headed into a dry, sunny stretch with temperatures steadily climbing into the 90s by early next week, posing heat risks for vulnerable populations and outdoor workers.
According to the National Weather Service, Thursday will reach a high near 85°F with calm winds turning west around 6 mph in the afternoon. Overnight lows remain mild, in the upper 50s, with increasing cloud cover before skies clear again Friday.
Friday through Wednesday brings mostly sunny skies and rising temperatures across the Sacramento Valley. Highs will reach 87°F Friday, 90°F Monday, and peak near 94°F by Wednesday. Overnight lows will hover between 54°F and 60°F. No rainfall is expected during this period.
Residents in Elk Grove, Citrus Heights, and Davis should prepare for prolonged sun exposure and warming conditions. Officials urge limiting outdoor activities during peak heat hours, staying hydrated, and checking on elderly neighbors or pets.
With several days of 90+ temperatures ahead, PG&E recommends reducing electricity use during the afternoon to avoid power strain.
Temperatures are expected to remain above average through at least Wednesday. More heat advisories could be issued if conditions intensify.
