San Jose, Calif. – Temperatures across Northern California are climbing into dangerous territory this week, with highs expected to reach the 90s in inland areas by Wednesday, raising both heat and fire risks across the region.

According to the National Weather Service Bay Area office, a Minor to Moderate HeatRisk is in effect through Thursday, especially for the Santa Clara Valley, the Central and Southern Salinas Valley, and interior North and East Bay. Cities like Concord and Livermore have a 60–70% chance of exceeding 90°F on Wednesday, while parts of Pinnacles National Park and Bradley could see near-certain heat.

The heat coincides with elevated fire danger through Monday. Gusty winds of 25 to 35 mph—with isolated gusts up to 55 mph in terrain gaps—and humidity as low as 20% will increase the chance of fast-spreading grass or brush fires, particularly in higher elevations of the North Bay, East Bay, and parts of Monterey and San Benito counties.

Officials urge residents to hydrate early, wear light-colored clothing, and avoid any activities that could spark a fire. That includes driving over dry grass or dragging trailer chains.

More heat and fire safety advisories may be issued. Stay tuned to NWS updates as conditions evolve through midweek.
