Fresno, Calif. – Triple-digit temperatures will return in force across the San Joaquin Valley and Kern County desert on Saturday, with parts of Central California expected to reach up to 115°F by late afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in Hanford, highs between 100°F and 115°F are likely from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 28, with only slight variations across the region. Cities like Bakersfield, Fresno, and Visalia could see temperatures between 103°F and 108°F, while desert zones near Ridgecrest and Stovepipe Wells may exceed 114°F.
Dangerous heat will impact communities including Merced (100–102°F), Hanford (104–106°F), Delano (103–105°F), and Coalinga (97–99°F). Heat-sensitive individuals and those working outdoors are urged to stay hydrated, limit sun exposure, and use air conditioning where available.
This marks the second major heat event of June, and forecasters warn it could be one of the hottest days of the month. Residents should check on vulnerable neighbors, never leave children or pets in vehicles, and be prepared for possible power demand spikes.
The excessive heat will linger through the weekend, with updated advisories possible if conditions intensify.
