Los Angeles, California – Temperatures dropping to 32 degrees are producing widespread frost across the Santa Clarita Valley and Ventura County valleys early Friday, with impacts expected through 8 a.m. PST.

According to the National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard, a Frost Advisory remains in effect for the Santa Clarita Valley, Ojai Valley, Lake Casitas area, Central and Southeastern Ventura County Valleys, and communities including Calabasas and Agoura Hills. Overnight lows at or near freezing are allowing frost to form on exposed surfaces before sunrise.

Unprotected plants may suffer damage.

Areas including Valencia, Newhall, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Moorpark and Ojai are most vulnerable during the early morning hours when temperatures bottom out. Patchy frost may also form near Lake Castaic and Piru where winds remain light and skies are clear.

What residents should do now: Cover sensitive plants, bring potted vegetation indoors and avoid overwatering before temperatures rise.

Temperatures will rebound quickly after sunrise, ending the frost threat by midmorning. The Frost Advisory remains in effect until 8 a.m. PST Friday.
