San Francisco, CA – A frost advisory remains in effect for several regions across California as temperatures are expected to dip as low as 30 degrees overnight. The advisory, issued by the National Weather Service (NWS), is in place from midnight Friday until 9 a.m. Saturday.
According to the NWS, the affected areas include San Bernardino and Riverside County Valleys (Inland Empire), San Diego County Valleys, Ojai Valley, Mendocino County, Lake County, and parts of Monterey and San Benito counties. Frost is expected to form, potentially damaging sensitive outdoor vegetation and posing risks to vulnerable populations, including unhoused individuals.
Residents are urged to take precautions by covering tender plants and ensuring pets and livestock have adequate shelter. Prolonged exposure to cold temperatures can lead to hypothermia, and residents are advised to dress in layers and limit outdoor exposure during the coldest hours.
In Southern California, temperatures in the Ojai Valley and Inland Empire could reach lows of 32°F, while San Diego County Valleys may experience even colder conditions, dropping to 30°F. In Northern California, Mendocino and Lake counties are expected to see temperatures as low as 31°F.
