Los Angeles, CA – A powerful storm system is set to bring heavy rain to Los Angeles and Ventura counties on Thursday, raising concerns over flash flooding and debris flows, especially near recent burn scars. The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch effective from Thursday morning through late Thursday night.

According to the National Weather Service, excessive rainfall could trigger life-threatening flooding in vulnerable areas, including Palisades, Franklin, and Bridge burn scars. Wind gusts up to 20 mph and possible thunderstorms Thursday night could worsen conditions. Rainfall totals between 1 to 2 inches are expected, with localized areas receiving more.

Morning commuters should prepare for slick roads, reduced visibility, and potential street flooding on major highways, including Interstate 5 and the Pacific Coast Highway. Residents in flood-prone zones should avoid low-lying areas and have an emergency plan in place.

Looking ahead, Friday will see clearing skies, with partly sunny conditions and a high of 60°F. The Valentine’s weekend forecast remains favorable, with mostly sunny skiesand highs in the mid-60s through Sunday.
