Wind gusts of up to 80 mph and dangerously low humidity levels could lead to rapid fire spread and power outages across the region.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the heightened fire risk will be compounded by poor overnight humidity recovery, increasing the threat to lives and property. Officials urge residents to secure outdoor items, charge electronics, and prepare an evacuation plan with a go bag. The National Weather Service has also issued an air quality alert through Tuesday evening due to harmful dust and ash.
Critical areas include the LA/Ventura County Santa Ana Wind Corridor. Downed trees and power lines are expected, especially along roadways such as the Angeles Crest Highway. Residents are advised to avoid any potential ignition sources, stay indoors, and limit outdoor activities to protect their health.
Tuesday’s forecast calls for sunny skies with a high of 65°F, but wind conditions will remain hazardous until late evening. Calm weather is expected to return Wednesday, with highs near 68°F and clear skies through Thursday.
