SACRAMENTO, Calif. – California’s capital is stepping into a postcard-perfect fall weekend as warm sunshine and calm winds settle across the Sacramento Valley. The National Weather Service says the region will enjoy clear skies through Sunday, with highs climbing into the upper 70s — a few degrees above normal for mid-October.

According to the National Weather Service in Sacramento, temperatures will rise from the low 70s on Friday to around 78°F by Sunday. With calm winds and abundant sunshine, conditions will be ideal for weekend events, fall markets, and outdoor travel along Interstate 5 and Highway 99. Drivers can expect excellent visibility across the valley, and local farms are reporting strong conditions for pumpkin picking and early leaf-viewing outings.

Saturday and Sunday will deliver classic Northern California fall weather: crisp mornings near 50°F and mild, sun-drenched afternoons. The region’s air quality remains good, and skies will stay clear into early next week, offering some of the best weather of the season for hiking, gardening, and outdoor sports.

A gradual cooldown may arrive by Wednesday as Pacific moisture edges closer to Northern California, though no rain is expected before midweek. Until then, Sacramento residents can enjoy near-perfect autumn conditions as October’s final stretch begins.
