Truckee, CA – Traffic along Interstate 80 is facing significant disruptions after a big rig fire erupted near Nyack on Saturday morning. The incident has led to the diversion of westbound traffic at State Route 20, causing delays for travelers in the area. According to the CHP – Truckee, the fire began earlier today, leading to an emergency response and immediate traffic redirection.

Eastbound I-80 remains closed at Applegate, and there is currently no estimate on when the freeway will reopen. Authorities have urged drivers, especially those in big rigs, to seek alternate routes. Northbound US395 traffic is being rerouted to westbound SR-70 as a recommended alternate route for large vehicles.

The closure has resulted in a backup of traffic, with big rigs being held westbound at the Nevada state line. Travelers in the area should expect delays and are advised to plan their routes accordingly.

According to the Nevada State Police, the situation is being closely monitored, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available. Emergency crews are on-site working to clear the area and ensure safety before reopening the highway.
