San Diego, CA – Southern California residents in inland desert regions are being warned to brace for powerful winds Friday into early Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service in San Diego, a Wind Advisory will be in effect for both the San Gorgonio Pass near Banning and San Diego County deserts, including Borrego Springs. The advisory begins 6 a.m. Friday in San Gorgonio Pass and 4 p.m. Friday in the San Diego deserts, lasting until 5 a.m. Saturday.

Forecasters say winds will reach sustained speeds of 25 to 35 mph, with gusts between 50 and 60 mph possible Friday afternoon and night. These conditions could knock down tree limbs, scatter unsecured outdoor items, and trigger localized power outages.

The strongest winds are expected Friday evening, particularly along high desert corridors and mountain passes. Officials caution that driving may be hazardous, especially for trucks, RVs, and other high-profile vehicles.

Residents are urged to secure outdoor belongings and remain alert to changing conditions. The advisory comes as Southern California transitions into a cooler, windier fall weather pattern, bringing seasonal hazards to desert and inland areas.
