San Francisco, California – Minor coastal flooding is expected to affect communities along the San Francisco and San Pablo Bays between 9 p.m. Wednesday and 2 a.m. Thursday, with high tides likely to cause up to a foot of water in low-lying shoreline areas.

According to the National Weather Service in San Francisco, tonight’s high tide at the San Francisco tidal gauge will reach 1.08 feet above normal (6.92 feet MLLW) at 10:50 p.m. PDT, with flooding risk peaking during that period. High tide timing may shift by up to two hours in different areas along the Bay.

Residents in San Francisco, Oakland, Richmond, Vallejo, and other bayshore cities could see water inundate parking lots, parks, and local roadways, especially near tidal waterways. Only isolated road closures are expected, but drivers should avoid barricaded roads or any water of unknown depth. Emergency officials advise residents to move vehicles from low-lying areas and remain alert for possible rising water, especially during late evening hours.

While the flooding is expected to be minor, even shallow water can be dangerous for motorists and pedestrians. The advisory will remain in effect through 2 a.m. Thursday, with updates possible if tides remain elevated.
