Eureka, CA — Heavy rain and high tides are expected to impact Humboldt County starting Friday morning, with the most severe conditions forecast Friday evening. Residents should prepare for potential flooding in low-lying areas and hazardous road conditions.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the strongest rainfall will hit southwest Humboldt and Mendocino counties Friday night into early Saturday. Up to 6 inches of rain are possible in higher elevations, with widespread totals of 3 to 4 inches. Wind gusts could reach 33 mph, increasing the risk of falling debris and power outages.

Residents should avoid flooded areas and take precautions against saltwater damage.
Rain is expected to persist through Saturday, tapering off by early Sunday. Drivers should remain alert for rock slides and water ponding on roads, particularly along U.S. Highway 101. Local creeks and streams may also rise rapidly, creating additional hazards.
The five-day forecast shows a mix of rain and clearing skies. Friday and Saturday will see the heaviest rain, with Sunday offering a brief reprieve before rain chances return Monday night.
