San Diego, Calif. – After a gray and overcast start, San Diego is set to brighten with sunshine dominating by Sunday, pushing afternoon highs into the low 80s. The shift comes after a week of stubborn coastal clouds that have kept mornings damp and skies muted.

According to the National Weather Service, skies will begin clearing today with a high near 78 as winds shift west at 5 to 10 mph. Tonight brings partly cloudy conditions and a low near 67, but Sunday turns sunny with afternoon highs reaching 82. Winds remain light, offering comfortable beach and outdoor conditions.

Clouds will creep back in Sunday night, but Monday stays mostly sunny with highs in the upper 70s. By Tuesday, skies turn partly sunny before midweek clouds return, keeping temperatures in the mid-70s. Despite the cloud cover, rain chances remain low, and inland areas will see slightly warmer afternoons.

Residents should expect morning marine layer clouds, especially near the coast, with clearer afternoons inland. The National Weather Service notes these conditions are typical for early September, keeping temperatures mild for the region.

More clearing is expected by Friday, when highs again reach the mid-70s under sunny skies.
