Ferndale, CA – Two earthquakes shook Northern California’s coastline early Monday, sending tremors through the region near Ferndale.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the first quake registered at magnitude 4.0 and struck around 159 kilometers west of Ferndale at 10:41 a.m. local time. Just seconds later, a second tremor with a magnitude of 3.2 hit about 45 kilometers west of Ferndale, at a depth of 15.1 kilometers.

Residents across the region reported feeling the jolts, though no major damage or injuries have been reported so far. The USGS encouraged residents to share their experiences online to help assess the earthquake’s intensity across communities.

Northern California is prone to seismic activity, with Ferndale near the Mendocino Triple Junction, where three tectonic plates meet. The back-to-back quakes serve as a reminder for residents to remain prepared for potential future tremors.

Authorities continue to monitor aftershocks and urge the public to stay informed through local updates.
