Los Angeles, CA – A year-and-a-half-long investigation into a string of nighttime commercial burglaries across Southern California has led to multiple arrests in Long Beach and Alhambra.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, detectives with the Major Crimes Bureau’s Metro Detail began investigating a series of liquor store, tobacco shop, and convenience store burglaries in Los Angeles County. Authorities later determined the same group was allegedly responsible for more than 50 break-ins throughout Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties.
The suspects reportedly wore hooded sweaters and masks to conceal their identities, using power tools to force entry. Investigators said they stole high-end alcohol, cigarettes, cash, and even pried open ATM machines. In several cases, the suspects allegedly fled in stolen high-performance vehicles, including Chevy Camaros, leading to dangerous pursuits with police.
Detectives executed search warrants early Thursday, Aug. 28, at three Long Beach residences and one in Alhambra. During the operation, investigators said they recovered stolen property, thousands of dollars in cash, evidence linking the suspects to the burglaries, as well as two loaded semi-automatic handguns and an assault pistol equipped with a silencer and extended magazine.
The Sheriff’s Department confirmed that Marco Rivera, 22, of Long Beach, was arrested with bail set at $1,025,000. Nakoa Taylor, 20, of Long Beach, was taken into custody on $1,000,000 bail. Jaheim Ebry, 21, also of Long Beach, was arrested with bail set at $1,000,000. Francisco Araiza-Lopez, 25, of Alhambra, who had been previously arrested in connection to the case, is being held on $1,075,000 bail. Additionally, Isaac Araiza-Lopez, 19, of Alhambra, was arrested on narcotics and multiple firearm-related charges.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has filed charges against the suspects. Authorities are encouraging anyone with additional information to contact the Sheriff’s Department or Crime Stoppers.
