Springfield, MI – An early morning shooting in Springfield is under investigation after two individuals were injured outside a local bar Sunday.
According to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 1:52 a.m. on April 26 to the Base Bar and Grill, located along Dickman Road in Springfield, following reports of gunfire. Initial reports indicated shots were fired in the parking lot while approximately 200 մարդիկ were present at the time of the incident.
Deputies arrived within minutes and encountered a large crowd exiting the establishment. Authorities first secured the scene to assess any ongoing threat before assisting with injuries. Investigators later determined that two individuals had sustained gunshot wounds and left the scene on their own to seek medical care.
One victim was located by Battle Creek Police near Kendall Street and Ann Street while en route to the hospital. Officers provided immediate medical aid, including applying a tourniquet, before the individual was transported for further treatment. Both victims have since been identified and are reported to be in stable condition.
The Calhoun County Area Multi-Jurisdictional Evidence Team and sheriff’s detectives were activated to assist with evidence processing and the ongoing investigation. Authorities confirmed that evidence was recovered at the scene.
Multiple agencies, including Battle Creek Police, Michigan State Police, Springfield Fire Department, and LifeCare EMS, assisted in the response.
