Deputies said Dale Jacob Higley was last seen on foot near 15 ½ Mile Road and J Drive South at approximately 3:00 p.m. on September 7, 2025. The sheriff’s office confirmed that Higley may have experienced a medical issue prior to his disappearance, but no signs of foul play have been found.

Since his disappearance, local, county, and state agencies have devoted extensive resources to the search. According to the sheriff’s office, the effort has included drone operations, K9 units, Blue Water K9 Rescue, Calhoun County CERT team, Marine Patrol, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Oakland County Search and Rescue, multiple Michigan State Police helicopter flights, and community volunteers. Investigators have also been following up on every tip submitted by the public.
