Calhoun County, MI – Authorities are searching for a Clarence Township man after a domestic assault investigation Tuesday led to the recovery of stolen vehicles, a firearm, and suspected narcotics, according to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched Tuesday, January 6, to the 24000 block of L Drive North in Clarence Township for a reported domestic assault. During the initial investigation, deputies learned the suspect had fled the scene and was considered outstanding.
Investigators were further advised that the suspect allegedly may have been in possession of a firearm and that illegal drugs, stolen property, and other evidence of criminal activity could be located at the residence. The victim was safely transported to a secure location for protection.
A search warrant was authorized for the home, and due to the potential threat posed by the outstanding suspect, the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team (SRT) was activated to execute the warrant. Multiple individuals found at the residence were detained without incident.
Detectives from the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office and Michigan State Police were joined by the Calhoun Area Multi-Jurisdictional Evidence Technicians (CAMJET), Calhoun Aerial Support Team (CAST), and CCSO K-9 units. Additional support came from the Marshall Police Department, Albion Department of Public Safety, Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi Police Department, Michigan State Police SWET and SCAR teams, LifeCare EMS, and the Calhoun County Consolidated Dispatch Authority.
During the search, detectives recovered two stolen vehicles and a stolen trailer, all of which were processed and returned to their rightful owners. A firearm and suspected methamphetamine were also seized and submitted for laboratory testing.
The suspect, identified as Michael Gale of Clarence Township, is wanted for additional questioning. Detectives say Gale allegedly remains at large, and the investigation is ongoing.
