Burlington, VT – Cold but relatively quiet weather will continue across northern Vermont and the Champlain Valley on Tuesday, with brief breaks of sunshine possible before clouds and breezier conditions increase overnight.
According to the National Weather Service office in Burlington, Tuesday’s high temperatures will range from the mid to upper 20s, keeping conditions well below seasonal averages. Despite the cold, brief peaks of sun are possible across much of Vermont and the Champlain Valley during the morning and early afternoon hours.
Northern New York, including areas west of the Green Mountains, is expected to remain partly to mostly cloudy throughout the day. Winds during daylight hours will stay light, generally from the south to southwest at 5 to 10 mph, allowing for relatively calm conditions despite the cold temperatures.
Changes arrive Tuesday night, as cloud cover increases area-wide ahead of multiple weather systems expected later this week. Winds are forecast to strengthen overnight, with gusts increasing to 20 to 25 mph, especially in exposed and higher elevation areas.
Forecasters say the breezy pattern will persist through Friday, though Tuesday night’s increase in wind will be the first noticeable shift. No precipitation is expected Tuesday or Tuesday night, and road conditions are expected to remain dry.
Looking ahead, the National Weather Service notes that midweek and late-week systems could bring additional clouds and changing weather conditions, though details remain uncertain at this time.
Residents are advised to dress warmly, especially during the morning and evening hours, and to stay updated on forecast changes as wind speeds increase and the weather pattern becomes more active later in the week.
