Burlington, Vermont – Showers rolling into northwestern Vermont late Friday could bring slick roads and cooler conditions through the Father’s Day weekend. Winds will ease after a gusty Thursday, but residents from Burlington to South Hero should prepare for increased cloud cover, rainfall, and below-normal temperatures.

According to the National Weather Service, a 50% chance of rain begins after 2 a.m. Friday, with heavier showers likely into Friday night and Saturday morning. Temperatures will hover near 68°F Friday, before dipping to the mid-50s by Saturday night. Rain could accumulate early Saturday, especially before 8 a.m., although totals are expected to stay under a tenth of an inch.

Drivers along I-89 and U.S. Route 7 should anticipate wet pavement and slower travel late Friday and early Saturday. North winds will calm by Friday night, but southeastern gusts may return Saturday evening.

By Sunday, expect partial clearing with a slight chance of showers in the afternoon. Father’s Day will remain cool for June, topping out near 71°F. Monday and Tuesday look warmer, though another round of showers returns by Tuesday and lingers through midweek
