Burlington, VT – A stretch of classic fall weather continues across northern Vermont this weekend, with bright skies and a noticeable warm-up before showers arrive late Sunday. The National Weather Service in Burlington reports that Friday and Saturday will stay sunny to partly sunny, with highs in the 50s and 60s, before a surge of warm air lifts temperatures well into the 70s on Sunday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service Burlington office, increasingly strong south winds on Sunday will usher in the warmest air of the month so far. Gusts could reach 25 mph by midday, especially along Lake Champlain and in higher terrain. Despite the breeze, much of the region will stay dry through the daylight hours, with only scattered showers expected from west to east after sunset. Areas from St. Albans to Montpelier may see brief rainfall before midnight.

Forecasters say the mild spell will be short-lived as a cold front slides through Sunday night, bringing cooler air to start the new week. By Monday, highs will drop back into the 50s with clearing skies and crisp morning lows in the 30s.

Residents planning weekend hikes or foliage drives should enjoy comfortable afternoons but prepare for chilly mornings and windier conditions by Sunday.
