BURLINGTON, Vt. – A Frost Advisory is in effect tonight for much of western Vermont and portions of northern New York, with temperatures expected to fall between 32 and 36 degrees. Sensitive outdoor plants could be damaged or killed if left uncovered overnight.
According to the National Weather Service in Burlington, the advisory covers Western Addison, Grand Isle, Western Chittenden, and Western Franklin counties in Vermont, along with Eastern Clinton and Eastern Essex counties in New York. The alert remains in effect from 10 p.m. Friday through 9 a.m. Saturday.
While some clouds could briefly limit frost development, forecasters say calm winds and enough clearing skies will likely lead to widespread frost formation by early morning. Home gardeners and farmers are urged to cover tender plants, bring potted vegetation indoors, or use light fabric coverings to prevent damage.
This advisory marks another reminder of the season’s turn toward colder nights, with temperatures continuing to trend downward into early next week. Additional frost advisories may follow if clear, calm nights persist through the weekend.
