Burlington, VT – Northern Vermont residents are waking up to gusty winds and cooler temperatures Tuesday as a strong northerly breeze pushes into the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Burlington, winds will increase this morning with gusts reaching 15 to 20 mph across much of the state. Portions of the Champlain Valley may see gusts closer to 25 mph. The shift brings sharply cooler air compared to recent highs.
High temperatures today are expected to stay in the 60s for most communities, with only a few southern areas possibly reaching the low 70s. Overnight lows will dip further, enhancing the fall-like feel across the region.
The weather service notes that this cooler pattern will linger through at least Thursday, meaning residents can expect breezy and brisk conditions for much of the workweek. Travelers and outdoor workers should prepare for unseasonably chilly mornings and take note of potential wind impacts, especially near Lake Champlain.
While no hazardous weather is currently expected, the breezy conditions could make the air feel cooler than the thermometer shows, a reminder that autumn weather is settling in across Vermont.
