Burlington, Vermont – A warmer-than-normal weather pattern will continue across Burlington through Friday night, with daytime temperatures rising into the low to mid-40s.
According to the National Weather Service in Burlington, temperatures climbed above freezing today across most of the area, excluding some higher mountain summits. After a brief dip this evening, temperatures are expected to rise again overnight in some locations.
Friday will be the warmest day of the stretch, with highs reaching into the 40s across Burlington and much of northern Vermont. These temperatures are well above average for early January and may lead to additional snowmelt during the day.
Forecasters say cooler air will return from the north late Friday night, first impacting northern New York before spreading eastward into Vermont. This shift will bring temperatures back closer to seasonal norms heading into the weekend.
No significant precipitation or hazardous weather is expected during this mild period, though melting snow and refreezing overnight could create localized slick spots in untreated areas.
Residents are encouraged to remain aware of changing conditions, especially during nighttime and early morning travel.
