Vermont’s morning air feels sharp and metallic, with light snow flicking across Lake Champlain and coating windshields in a thin crust. Conditions stay unsettled today, but the bigger story is what builds next as Arctic air and snow chances converge heading into Friday and this weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Burlington, lake-enhanced snow showers remain possible today, especially across northern Vermont. Snow showers may increase later this afternoon, with highs near 23. Gusty winds will drive wind chills below zero at times, making it feel colder than the thermometer suggests.

Snow showers linger into tonight with lows near 22. Accumulations stay light for most, but untreated roads could turn slick quickly. Drivers should stay alert on Route 7 and local connectors during the evening commute.

Thursday brings another round of scattered snow showers, mainly during the morning and afternoon. Highs climb into the mid-30s, but winds increase, reducing visibility during heavier bursts. Travel impacts remain localized, though brief slowdowns are possible.

A short lull follows Thursday night into Friday as skies partially clear. Highs Friday only reach near 20, signaling the arrival of much colder air. That cold tightens fast Friday night.

By Saturday, daytime highs hover near zero, with wind chills plunging well below zero. Conditions turn dangerous for prolonged outdoor exposure. Snow chances return Saturday night into Sunday, with snow becoming more likely Sunday afternoon. Roads may become snow-covered and icy, especially in shaded areas and higher terrain.

Looking ahead, the 6–10 day outlook keeps Vermont locked into below-normal temperatures, with continued chances for wintry precipitation as Arctic air dominates the Northeast.
