Burlington, VT – Another round of rain and snow showers is expected across northern Vermont today and Friday, bringing a cool and unsettled end to the work week, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Burlington.
Forecasters note that today’s weather will be similar to Wednesday’s conditions, though precipitation is not expected to be quite as widespread. Off-and-on rain and snow showers are possible throughout the day, with precipitation chances ranging from 35 to 55 percent depending on location. Highs will remain chilly, topping out between 30 and 45 degrees across the Champlain Valley, Northeast Kingdom, and adjacent New York counties.
Winds today will be light, generally from the west to northwest at 5 to 7 mph, adding a bit of a brisk feel to the cool temperatures.
Friday brings a slight decrease in precipitation coverage, but a mix of rain and snow showers will still be possible with chances around 20 to 40 percent. High temperatures will again land between 30 and 40 degrees, continuing the cooler-than-normal pattern for mid-November. Winds shift to northwesterly and may increase slightly to 8 to 10 mph.
Behind Friday’s system, temperatures are not expected to warm significantly this weekend, and occasional snow showers may linger in the higher elevations. No significant accumulation is expected at this time.
Residents traveling across northern Vermont and the surrounding Adirondack region should prepare for occasional slick spots, especially during the morning and evening hours when snow may briefly mix in.
