Statesboro, GA – A drug trafficking investigation launched after repeated citizen complaints has resulted in nine arrests and the seizure of multiple illegal drugs and a firearm in Statesboro, according to the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office, the Crime Suppression Team began investigating reported drug activity in the area of Van Buren Street and Elm Street, both located within the city limits of Statesboro. Investigators identified two primary suspects—Rotema Watson and Purlay Johnson, both of Statesboro—during the early stages of the case.
The investigation led deputies to obtain a search warrant for a residence on Van Buren Street. On December 18, 2025, the warrant was executed by the Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team, Crime Suppression Team investigators, and deputies assigned to the K9 Unit. Authorities say the search uncovered trafficking-level quantities of methamphetamine, cocaine, crack cocaine, marijuana, and a handgun.
Four individuals—Rotema Watson, Frances Howard, and Roshaunda Johnson—were taken into custody at the residence and transported to the Bulloch County Jail. Investigators then followed up at a nearby apartment complex on Elm Street, where additional narcotics were allegedly discovered.
As a result of that secondary investigation, Purlay Johnson, Imonee McClouden, James Campbell, Shamari Harris, and Ryan Thomas were arrested and also transported to the Bulloch County Jail.
According to authorities, charges range from methamphetamine trafficking and possession with intent to distribute cocaine to firearm offenses, obstruction, and unlawful use of a communications facility. Investigators say more arrests are expected as the case continues.
