Buffalo, NY – Lake effect rain and higher-elevation wet snow showers will continue across western New York through Friday as breezy conditions keep the region unsettled, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Buffalo.

According to NWS forecasters, highs today will reach the low to mid-40s, with lows dipping into the upper 20s and low 30s. Lake effect bands will bring periodic rain mixed with wet snow over the higher terrain, though any accumulation is expected to remain very minor and limited to the most elevated areas.

Friday remains cool with highs again near 40 to 45 degrees. Scattered lake effect rain and snow showers are expected, but forecasters note that conditions will temporarily improve Friday night into early Saturday, offering the region a brief window of dry weather.

That break will be short-lived. Widespread rain returns Saturday afternoon, spreading from west to east. Mild temperatures will push highs into the upper 40s and mid-50s during the day, with lows in the mid-30s to upper 30s overnight.

A colder, windier pattern takes over Sunday as another push of cool air drops highs into the upper 30s and low 40s. Lake effect rain and wet snow showers are expected to redevelop, particularly south of Buffalo and across inland higher elevations.

Through the rest of the weekend, snow accumulations will remain limited and minor—primarily confined to the highest terrain.

Early next week looks seasonably cool with occasional lake effect clouds but no major storm systems currently expected.
