Buffalo, NY – A winter storm system is set to bring snow, freezing rain, and a wintry mix to western New York starting Thursday. Forecasters warn of hazardous road conditions, especially during the Thursday morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Buffalo, precipitation will begin early Thursday, with snow and sleet accumulating before shifting to freezing rain by the evening. Gusty winds up to 26 mph could worsen visibility. Drivers along I-90 and I-190should prepare for slippery roads and delays.

Friday will see brief clearing with partly sunny skies, but another system could bring more snow Saturday night into Sunday. Highs will range from the low 20s to mid-30s, with wind chills dropping into the teens.

Residents are advised to allow extra travel time, stock up on essentials, and check for potential school or business closures. The NWS recommends avoiding unnecessary travel during peak snowfall.
