Buffalo, NY – A weak weather system moving across upstate New York is bringing off-and-on rain and light snow showers to the region today, according to the National Weather Service in Buffalo.
Early morning showers began as a mix of rain and snow, especially across Western New York and the higher terrain east of Lake Ontario. Forecasters say additional showers will continue into the afternoon, though most areas will see plain rain by midday.
Areas across Tug Hill and the Western Adirondacks are expected to experience steadier snow through tonight, with minor accumulations of 1 to 3 inches possible, especially at higher elevations. Rain will persist elsewhere before tapering off late this evening.
Temperatures will hover in the upper 30s to low 40s through Sunday before colder, drier air moves in to start the workweek. Roads in rural and elevated areas may become slick after sunset as temperatures drop.
Drivers are advised to use caution, especially when traveling along I-81 and routes east of Lake Ontario, where snow bands could briefly reduce visibility tonight.
