Buffalo, NY – A cold front moving across western and north-central New York is bringing showers and breezy winds today, with lake effect rain expected to develop and continue through the rest of the week, according to the US National Weather Service Buffalo.
Rain will taper off in western areas this afternoon, but showers will linger into tonight east and southeast of Lake Ontario. After a short break, rain chances increase again Tuesday afternoon, continuing through Friday as lake-enhanced showers redevelop.
Forecasters say temperatures will cool into the 50s by midweek, with highs in the upper 40s to low 50s across higher elevations. Breezy northwest winds will persist through Thursday, reinforcing the chill and adding to the lake effect rain chances.
By Friday, conditions are expected to remain unsettled with scattered showers and patchy fog, though some breaks in the clouds are possible heading into the weekend.
Motorists should use caution during periods of reduced visibility near the lakeshore and in higher terrain, where heavier lake effect bands may develop midweek.
