Buffalo, NY – A strong cold front is set to hit Buffalo this evening, bringing a mix of rain and snow. The initial precipitation could create slippery spots, particularly on elevated surfaces like bridges and overpasses. As temperatures drop behind the front, icy conditions are expected to form, especially on the hills east of Erie and areas near Lake Ontario.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will fall quickly, reaching the upper teens and low 20s tonight. Snow accumulation could range from 1 to 2 inches overnight, with up to 4.9 inches expected near the lake. A winter weather advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. tomorrow for Jefferson, Lewis, and Oswego counties.

Residents are urged to exercise caution on roadways, especially on bridges, ramps, and overpasses, where conditions can change rapidly. Drivers should be prepared for hazardous travel conditions, particularly in areas with elevated surfaces.
