Buffalo, N.Y. – Drivers across the Southern Tier dealt with patchy fog early this morning, but clearer skies and dry conditions are expected to take hold for the rest of the day. Sunshine will mix with light breezes, keeping much of Western New York calm through tonight.
According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, a cold front will push southeast across the region Thursday. While the system is not expected to bring widespread rain, it will trigger a noticeable shift in winds from the southwest to the north. That change could bring cooler air into parts of Erie, Chautauqua, and Cattaraugus counties by Thursday afternoon.
Travel across Interstate 90 and other major corridors should remain unaffected, but motorists should still allow extra time in rural valleys this morning where fog lingers. Outdoor plans Thursday should go largely uninterrupted, though temperatures may feel cooler by evening as northerly winds settle in.
The National Weather Service notes conditions will stay mainly dry even with the passing front, but additional advisories could be issued if winds strengthen.
