Buffalo, NY – A cold front moving across Western and Northern New York today will bring rain showers and strong southwest winds, according to the US National Weather Service Buffalo, NY. A Wind Advisory is in effect for several counties northeast of the Great Lakes, including Erie, Niagara, Orleans, Jefferson, Genesee, and Chautauqua, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday.

Forecasters expect wind gusts up to 50 mph this afternoon, particularly northeast of Lakes Erie and Ontario. Sustained winds between 20 and 30 mph may make travel difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles and along open stretches near the lakeshores.

Rain showers are expected to move in by midday, tapering off later tonight as the front passes. High temperatures will range from the mid-50s to near 60°F, with lows tonight in the 30s to low 40s.

Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, and boaters on the Great Lakes should remain in port until winds subside.
