BUFFALO, N.Y. – After a crisp, dry Friday, western New York heads into a cloudy, unsettled weekend with on-and-off showers and cool fall air. Friday’s sunshine and highs near 65°F will give way to thickening clouds tonight, marking the start of a wetter pattern that could linger into early next week.
According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, increasing moisture off Lake Erie will bring scattered showers beginning early Saturday, especially north and east of the metro area and across higher terrain like the Tug Hill Plateau. Saturday highs will reach the mid-60s, with lows in the upper 40s. Conditions may feel damp and breezy for outdoor events and fall festivals.
Showers are expected to continue at times through Sunday as a weak frontal boundary stalls near the region. Travel on the Thruway (I-90) and I-86 may encounter occasional wet pavement and reduced visibility, though no flooding or severe weather is anticipated.
Forecasters expect a brief break Monday before another weak system arrives by Tuesday. Residents should plan for cool, variable skies, and keep jackets and umbrellas handy through the start of next week. Gardeners in the Southern Tier should monitor overnight lows in the low 40s, which could bring patchy frost in sheltered valleys by early next week.
