Buffalo, NY – Western New York will enjoy a brief stretch of sunshine today before snow chances return over the weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Buffalo.
High pressure will bring mostly sunny skies and highs around 30°F today, with lows dipping into the upper teens to lower 20s tonight. By Saturday, a breezy southwest flow will develop, bringing light snow east of the Lower Great Lakes as temperatures reach the upper 30s.
Forecasters say a fast-moving system late Sunday into Sunday night will bring widespread light snow across much of the region, potentially leaving a few inches of accumulation, especially inland from Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. Temperatures will remain well below normal next week, with overnight lows dropping to near zero by early Monday.
Travelers are advised to prepare for slippery roads late Sunday night and early Monday as the new workweek begins.
