Buffalo, NY – The National Weather Service in Buffalo reports that Lake Effect Snow Advisories remain in effect this morning for Niagara, Orleans, Erie, Jefferson, Lewis, and Oswego counties, with snow tapering off by early afternoon on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.
The heaviest snowfall is expected across the Tug Hill Plateau and portions of Jefferson County, where 3 to 6 inches of accumulation are possible. Areas around Buffalo, Niagara Falls, and Medina could see 1 to 3 inches in the most persistent snow bands before a gradual change to rain later this morning.
Forecasters warn of slippery road conditions and rapidly changing visibility, particularly during the Wednesday morning commute. Motorists are advised to reduce speed, allow extra travel time, and be prepared for quickly shifting weather conditions.
As temperatures climb above freezing by midday, snow at lower elevations is expected to transition to plain rain, though some light accumulations may persist into the evening across higher terrain and the Western Adirondacks.
