Buffalo, New York – 32°F highs and scattered snow showers are slowing travel through Saturday evening, especially east of Lake Ontario where lake effect snow persists.

Cold air remains locked across western and north-central New York today, with temperatures only reaching the low to mid-30s. Scattered snow showers will continue through the day, with the most persistent activity focused east of Lake Ontario, including areas near Watertown and Tug Hill, where visibility may briefly drop and light accumulations are possible.

According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, snow showers will taper off for most areas tonight, though bands may linger east of Lake Ontario into the overnight hours. Temperatures will fall sharply into the low to mid-20s, allowing any leftover moisture on roads to refreeze and create slick conditions.

Travel impacts are expected along I-90, I-81, and Route 104, particularly in areas experiencing lake effect snow. Drivers should reduce speeds and remain alert for sudden changes in visibility and road conditions.

Conditions improve Sunday as dry weather returns and temperatures rebound into the upper 40s to low 50s across much of the region, though cooler readings will persist across the North Country.

The cold snap will ease by Sunday afternoon, with a broader warming trend expected early next week.
