Buffalo, NY – A Freeze Warning has been issued for much of western and north-central New York from 11 p.m. tonight until 9 a.m. EDT Monday, as temperatures are expected to fall into the upper 20s to near 30 degrees, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Buffalo.
The warning includes Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, Wayne, Northern Cayuga, Northern Erie, and Genesee Counties, covering major cities such as Buffalo, Rochester, Medina, Batavia, and Niagara Falls. While areas immediately along Lake Ontario’s shoreline may remain slightly warmer, most inland regions are expected to dip below freezing overnight.
“Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation, and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing,” the NWS cautioned early Sunday. Residents are urged to cover plants, drain or insulate pipes, and prepare in-ground sprinkler systems for freezing temperatures.
The coldest conditions are expected early Monday morning, before sunshine returns and temperatures climb back into the mid-40s by afternoon. This marks one of the first widespread freezes of the season for the Buffalo–Rochester corridor.
