Buffalo, NY – Western New York residents are facing another blustery and damp day this Halloween, as the National Weather Service in Buffalo forecasts rain showers, strong winds, and cool temperatures across the region.

According to the US National Weather Service Buffalo NY, rain will continue through much of Friday, October 31, though some dry breaks could develop later in the afternoon, especially toward western areas. High temperatures are expected to hover between 45° and 50°F, paired with west to northwest winds at 20–30 mph and gusts reaching up to 50 mph.

The NWS notes that this “cool and unsettled” pattern will make for another unpleasant day for outdoor activities. Forecast maps show rain probabilities ranging from 60% to 90% across most of western and central New York, with slightly lower chances near Rochester and Wellsville later in the day.

Residents are advised to secure outdoor decorations and use caution while driving, as the combination of slick roads and high winds could create hazardous travel conditions. The wind chill may also make it feel colder than the thermometer indicates, particularly during evening trick-or-treating hours.
