New York – Rain is already beginning to dampen streets across Buffalo this afternoon, and a long stretch of wet, unsettled spring weather is taking hold. Sidewalks are turning slick, and skies remain locked in with thick cloud cover as showers build in intensity.

According to the National Weather Service, a 40 percent chance of showers develops today, with thunderstorms possible after 2 p.m. Conditions worsen Monday, with a 90 percent chance of rain and breezy winds gusting up to 34 mph.

Drivers along I-90, Route 33, and the Kensington Expressway should prepare for reduced visibility and standing water, especially by Monday afternoon. Plan extra time and avoid sudden braking on wet pavement.

By Tuesday, temperatures rise to around 65°F, but the unsettled pattern continues. Showers and possible thunderstorms develop before midday and intensify through the afternoon. Rain chances remain high into Tuesday night, reaching 70 percent.

Midweek brings little relief. Wednesday holds a 70 percent chance of showers with cloudy skies and highs near 67°F. Roads may stay wet for extended periods, increasing the risk of hydroplaning during peak travel hours.

Thursday continues the trend with another 60 percent chance of rain and highs near 69°F. This persistent pattern reflects a broader storm track across the Great Lakes, bringing repeated waves of moisture into western New York.

This is the kind of setup where conditions can change quickly. Keep rain gear nearby, monitor alerts, and expect delays during commutes.

Five Day Outlook for Buffalo, New York:
Today: Chance of showers, high 63°F
Monday: Showers and breezy, high 60°F
Tuesday: Showers likely, high 65°F
Wednesday: Showers likely, high 67°F
Thursday: Chance of showers, high 69°F
