According to Howard Fire Rescue Chief Dennis Staeven, emergency crews responded to multiple 911 calls just after 2:30 a.m. Thursday reporting a structure fire in the 1300 block of Rockwell Road. When firefighters arrived, the home was already engulfed in flames.
Officials said the fire completely destroyed the residence and caused moderate damage to a neighboring home. After extinguishing the blaze, crews recovered two victims and several deceased pets inside the structure. Their identities have not yet been released pending notification of family members.
