Brooksville, FL – A large law-enforcement response in Brooksville concluded late Sunday night after deputies located and detained three suspects involved in a stolen-vehicle pursuit that began in Pasco County, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO). Officials announced at 11:10 p.m. that all suspects were in custody and that units would soon begin clearing the area.
The incident prompted an increased police presence around Spring Lake Highway and Powell Road, where the suspects allegedly fled from the vehicle and ran into nearby neighborhoods. Agencies including the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, and Florida Highway Patrol assisted in the search.
Deputies said the suspects fled on foot, leading to a coordinated perimeter and the deployment of multiple K-9 teams. Residents in the area were asked to remain indoors during the search to allow K-9 units to work safely and to limit civilian exposure as officers swept the area.
Authorities initially described the suspects as three young males wearing all-black clothing. Deputies emphasized that anyone noticing suspicious activity during the incident should report it immediately.
The Sheriff’s Office did not release the identities or additional details about the suspects but confirmed all three were safely detained without further incident. No injuries to officers or residents were reported.
The search was part of an assist request from Pasco County after a stolen-vehicle pursuit crossed into Hernando County. Officials stated that further investigation into the alleged stolen-vehicle case remains ongoing.
Residents can expect normal activity in the area as law-enforcement units clear from the scene overnight.
