Brooklyn Center, MN – A coordinated law enforcement operation in Brooklyn Center led to five arrests and the recovery of two illegally possessed firearms, according to the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO).

The effort was part of a high-impact “auto theft saturation detail” launched by HCSO’s Auto Theft Unit alongside several partners — including the Violent Offender Task Force (VOTF), Criminal Intelligence Sharing and Analysis Team (CISA), IMPACT team, Brooklyn Center Police Department, Minnetonka Police, St. Louis Park Police, Crystal Police, and the Minnesota State Patrol. The initiative was supported by funding from the Minnesota Auto Theft Prevention Grant.

Authorities said that as the operation was concluding, officers received a 911 call about a suspect allegedly pointing a gun near the 5500 block of Xerxes Avenue North. Task force members nearby quickly responded, boxed in the suspect’s vehicle at a fast-food drive-thru, and recovered another firearm during the arrest.

Officials emphasized that proactive, coordinated enforcement efforts like this are vital for community safety and for reducing violent crime across Hennepin County.
