Brighton, NY – Three individuals were taken into custody Sunday after deputies in Monroe County located a reportedly stolen vehicle using license plate reader technology in the Town of Brighton.
According to the Monroe County Sheriffโs Office, the incident unfolded around 12:13 p.m. Sunday when a deputy received a license plate reader alert for a vehicle allegedly stolen out of Rochester the day prior. Deputies responded to the area of eastbound Penfield Road and Chiswell Way, where the vehicle was found parked and occupied outside a local business.
Authorities said two individuals, identified as Evan Crittenden, 36, and Matthew Solomon, 48, were inside the vehicle at the time. Crittenden allegedly refused lawful orders and was taken into custody without injury. Deputies also reportedly recovered a quantity of suspected crack cocaine from his possession. Solomon was taken into custody without incident.
Investigators said the alleged driver fled the scene on foot before deputies arrived. A description was broadcast, and within minutes, deputies located a man matching that description in a nearby parking lot. Following a brief foot pursuit, the individual, identified as Ryan Goetze, 30, was taken into custody.
According to authorities, Goetze is allegedly a repeat offender and parole absconder. Crittenden and Solomon are also reportedly wanted on outstanding warrants through the Rochester Police Department.
All three individuals face charges related to alleged possession of stolen property, with additional charges for obstruction, resisting arrest, and controlled substance possession filed against Crittenden and Goetze.
Following arraignment Sunday, Goetze and Crittenden were held without bail due to their alleged predicate felon status. Solomon was released on his own recognizance.
Officials said the case highlights the growing role of technology in proactive policing efforts across Monroe County.
