Brevard County, FL – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of 20-year-old Xazavier Butler in connection with the October 6 homicide of 15-year-old Ka’Ryah Duncan outside Anchors Seafood and Chicken on Clearlake Road.
According to Sheriff Wayne Ivey, members of the agency’s GAMEOVER Task Force located and arrested Butler late Wednesday night on a no-bond warrant. Butler faces charges of First-Degree Premeditated Murder, two counts of Attempted First-Degree Murder, and Possession of a Firearm by a Delinquent.
Authorities said the incident unfolded when gunfire erupted during what investigators described as an ambush outside the restaurant. Three people were shot — two men were wounded but survived, while Duncan later died from her injuries.
Sheriff Ivey said Butler’s arrest follows the earlier capture of Jonterich Smith, who was previously booked on similar charges related to the same shooting. Both suspects remain held without bond at the Brevard County Jail.
“I want to commend the hard work and dedication of our Agents and Crime Scene Unit for getting this guy off our streets and behind bars where he can’t harm anyone else,” Ivey said in a statement.
