Brevard County, FL – A Brevard County man is back behind bars less than 30 minutes after being released from jail, according to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities say Kevin Berrios was released from the county jail on Camp Road around 3:30 p.m. Thursday when he allegedly began throwing rocks at parked patrol vehicles near the Sheriff’s Office Fleet Maintenance Building.
According to Sheriff Wayne Ivey, Deputy Haney was transporting another individual to the jail when a rock struck his marked patrol car. Haney stopped to question Berrios, who allegedly admitted to the act without providing a clear reason.
Investigators with the General Crimes Unit later reviewed surveillance footage showing Berrios exiting the jail, picking up objects, and hurling them toward multiple vehicles before walking toward Camp Road. In total, the Sheriff’s Office reported approximately $3,700 in damage to several patrol cars.
Berrios was taken back into custody and booked into the Brevard County Jail without bond.
Sheriff Ivey praised the quick response of Deputy Haney and Agent Dylan Cervenak, calling the case “another example of great teamwork” by law enforcement.
