Brevard County, FL – Drivers in Brevard County are facing major delays Monday morning after a fatal crash forced the closure of Interstate 95 northbound just north of the Pineda Causeway.
According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, the northbound lanes of I-95 remain completely shut down following a traffic crash with fatalities. As of 8:50 a.m., deputies reported that traffic is being diverted off the interstate at the Pineda Causeway.
Officials are urging drivers to plan ahead, take alternate routes, and allow for additional travel time. The closure is expected to create significant congestion in the surrounding area, particularly for morning commuters.
Law enforcement has not yet released details on the number of vehicles involved or how long the interstate will remain closed. Updates are expected as investigators work the scene and crews clear the roadway.
Motorists traveling through Brevard County toward Cocoa, Melbourne, and surrounding areas should monitor traffic alerts and avoid the stretch of I-95 northbound until further notice.
The Sheriff’s Office stated it will update the public once the interstate has reopened.
