Brevard County, FL – A speeding stop in Brevard County turned into a serious drug arrest Sunday night after deputies discovered cocaine and trafficking amounts of fentanyl, according to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy Alex Campagnone was patrolling the South Precinct when he stopped a vehicle traveling 50 mph in a 35 mph zone. During the stop, Campagnone reportedly noticed a small bag of white powder on the ground near the driver, identified as Toni Gueorguiev. The substance field-tested positive for cocaine, prompting the deputy to detain the driver.

As the search continued, deputies say they found a cigarette pack in Gueorguiev’s pocket containing another baggie—this one filled with fentanyl. The substance weighed approximately 8.8 grams, which authorities note is a trafficking amount capable of causing thousands of lethal overdoses if improperly handled or distributed.

Sheriff Wayne Ivey commended Deputy Campagnone for the arrest, emphasizing that such stops often reveal far more serious crimes. Gueorguiev was transported to the Brevard County Jail and faces charges of possession of cocaine and trafficking in fentanyl.

“This is exactly why we take every traffic stop seriously,” Ivey said in a statement. “You never know what you’ll uncover that could save lives.”
